Target Sports Canada offers classes in all formats; you can take the non-restricted course or the non-restricted and restricted course combined

Course topics include, but not limited to:

  • The evolution of firearms, major parts, types and actions
  • Basic firearms safety practices
  • Ammunition
  • Operating firearm actions
  • Safe handling and carry procedures
  • Firing techniques and procedures
  • Care of non-restricted firearms
  • Responsibilities of the firearms owner/user
  • Safe storage, display, transportation and hangling of non-rest

Course Details

BASIC HANDGUN COURSE

This 3-hour course is designed to take the novice and give them the basic marksmanship fundamentals associated with handgun shooting. Once you have this under your belt you should see a swift and steady improvement in your personal shooting skills and ability.

Pre-requisites: Must have Restricted PAL

$100 + HST (Non-Member Price: $125 + HST)*

*Must be paid in full at time of booking

Supplies Required: 

Handgun – if you do not have your own rentals are available for $50 (ammo is extra)

  • 2-3 magazines (3 preferred)
  • A speedloader is recommended
  • Eye and ear protection (provided if necessary)
  • 150 Rounds of Ammunition

BASIC HOLSTER COURSE

This 6-hour course is designed to safely expose the student to the basics of practical shooting techniques using a holster.

Pre-requisites: Basic Handgun Skills Course and must have Restricted PAL

Supplies Required: 

Handgun – if you do not have your own rentals are available for $50 (ammo is extra)

  • 3 Magazines
  • Holster
  • Mag Pouch
  • 250 Rounds of Ammunition

This 6-hour course is designed to safely expose the student to the basics of practical shooting techniques using a holster.

IDPA Night

Every Wednesday come and participate in an IDPA shoot! Participants must have a valid IDPA membership from www.idpa.com

Open to Standard / Professional & VIP members only!

IDPA takes place on Range B, Therefore no rifles will be shot after 5:30pm on wednesday nights.

Non-Restricted PAL Course

Non-Restricted Course: This 11 hour course is for the firearms novice.

Once you pass this course, you may apply for a “NON-RESTRICTED” Firearms license.

It is specifically designed to progress at a reasonable pace to allow someone with limited or no prior firearms experience to successfully pass the government approved tests (taken the same day).

It is also appropriate for a minor who wishes to get a “minor’s firearms permit.” We also feel it is appropriate if English is not your first language, regardless of your prior firearms experience.

COURSE CONTENT

  • Ammunition
  • Operating firearm actions
  • Safe handling and carry procedures
  • Firing techniques and procedures
  • Care of firearms
  • Responsibilities of the firearms owner/user
  • Safe storage, display, transportation and handling of non-restricted and Restricted firearms actions

Schedule: This two day course  generally run twice a month on Friday (Night) and Saturday.

Cost: $192.10 including HST by itself or $339 including HST for both the non-restricted and restricted course if booked and paid for at the same time – A $50.00 NON-REFUNDABLE/NON-TRANSFERABLE Deposit is required to hold your spot. 

Firearms safety course fees include all books and training materials required.

Registration can be done in store or by phone.

Restricted PAL Course

This 6 hour course is taken AFTER you have already successfully taken the non-restricted course as it continues on where the non-restricted course stopped.

This is the course that you will require to apply for the “restricted” portion of a firearms license. Most people take this course the day after they take the non-restricted course so that they may apply for both categories immediately.

Schedule: This one day course is generally run on Sunday twice a month.

Cost: $192.105 including HST by itself or $339 including HST for both the non-restricted and restricted course if booked and paid for at the same time – A $50.00 NON- REFUNDABLE/NON-TRANSFERABLE depoist is required to hold your spot. 

Firearms safety course fees include all books and training materials required.

Registration can be done in store or over the phone.

IPSC Night - Range B closed

IPSC Members with black badges may participate in a night of IPSC shooting

Open to Standard, Professional & VIP Members Only!

Unfortunately no rifles to be shot between 5pm and 9pm Tuesdays as IPSC will be on Range B
